Meet Ruth, a Canadian transplant making an impact in the Chicago suburbs. With her passion for yoga and years of experience, she is dedicated to sharing her knowledge and expertise with those seeking refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Through her own experiences with trauma, surgeries, and cancer, Ruth turned to yoga and found a path to recovery and growth. She has completed multiple 200HR and a 500HR training, specializing in Vinyasa, Power, Restorative, Yin, Hot Fusion, Trauma-Informed Yoga (Y12SR), Sound Healing, Yoga as Medicine, Meditation, Private Yoga Coaching, and Life Coaching. With this diverse and extensive background, Ruth draws inspiration to mentor Yoga Teachers and lead both 200HR and 500HR Yoga Teacher Trainings. Offically she is E-RYT® 500 and a YACEP with Yoga Alliance. Ruth's teaching journey has taken her to various settings, from prisons to private pilot conventions, she has worked with corporations, home-schooled children, and individuals struggling with addiction. Her experience enables her to provide classes, workshops, and group and individualized coaching to clients dealing with significant trauma and recovery. With 17 years of sobriety and degrees in Biology and Nursing, Ruth is not only an expert in yoga but also a well-rounded individual with the capacity to help those in need. Ruth takes pride in her unique abilities and has been praised for her artistic perspective. As a professional artist and published poet, her creativity extends beyond the yoga studio. She also reads Tarot Cards and Human Design charts, always ready to provide an additional perspective to those willing to expand their horizons. What sets Ruth apart is her highly personalized, adaptive, and inclusive teaching style that caters to a wide range of individuals, with a special emphasis on trauma survivors and people who don’t think they can ‘do yoga’. She offers a broad spectrum of yoga styles, including Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Vinyasa, and Power Yoga. Ruth integrates innovative techniques like Trauma Releasing Exercises and sound therapy, making her workshops unique. Ruth creates a safe, accepting, and playful environment where all students feel seen and heard. She encourages self-awareness and mindfulness by focusing on the experience of yoga, rather than the aesthetic of the poses. Her commitment to inclusivity is demonstrated through extensive volunteering in various community spaces, including jails and youth groups, where she shares the benefits of yoga with those who may not typically have access to it. I happily work with anyone and have a special interest in trauma survivors and people with physical and mental challenges. Especially if they think yoga isn't something they could do.
